Wood-Destroying Insect Inspection
Termite / WDI / WDO Services

Wood damage does not always announce itself with a soft floor or a visible hole. Sometimes the first clue is a narrow mud tube along the foundation, damaged wood in a crawlspace, or evidence of a previous treatment.
At Caspian Home Inspection, we coordinate wood-destroying insect inspections through a trusted pest inspection partner. This service provides a focused evaluation and separate documentation to help you understand whether visible evidence of wood-destroying insects is present—and what may need further attention.
We dig deep, you rest easy.
What Do WDI and WDO Mean?
WDI stands for wood-destroying insects, including termites and certain wood-damaging beetles and ants.
WDO stands for wood-destroying organisms, a broader term that can also include organisms responsible for wood decay. Although these terms are sometimes used interchangeably, the inspection scope and reporting requirements may differ. Let us know if your lender or real estate contract requests a specific inspection or form.
What the Inspection Looks For
The inspection focuses on visible evidence in accessible areas, including:
- Signs of wood-destroying insects, such as termite shelter tubes or insect activity
- Visible wood damage associated with these insects
- Evidence of previous treatment
- Areas where access limitations prevent a complete visual evaluation
Findings may lead to recommendations for treatment, further evaluation, or repair. Concealed activity inside walls, beneath finishes, or in inaccessible areas may not be visible during the inspection.
How This Complements Your Home Inspection
During our home inspections, we document visible signs of suspected insect activity or related damage when observed. A separate WDI inspection adds a focused pest evaluation and its own report, which may be requested as part of your purchase or financing process.
We can coordinate this service alongside your home inspection to simplify scheduling.
Your WDI Report
An NPMA-33 Wood-Destroying Insect Inspection Report is available through our inspection partner. The report documents visible findings, inspection limitations, and applicable recommendations.
If your lender or closing team requires this form, tell us when scheduling so we can coordinate the appropriate documentation.
